…Ok let me set the stage … I just got a u3 thumb drive …more info Here A u3 drive AutoRuns a menu on start to run Portable Applications Applications that you can run from a ThumbDrive anyways so … a lot of innovation has come from PortableApps.com … the makers of PortableFirefox and PortableThunderbird John Haller … anyways he has made an awesome portable app called the PortableAppsMenu Portable apps menu It is just like the u3 menu except its FREE and OPEN-SOURCE and its so much more customizable then the u3 menu … also you can customize every aspect of this menu … it comes either pre-stocked with apps such as openoffice , firefox , and thunderbird weighting in at about 90 megs , without openoffice for 30 megs or with no apps and completely customizable for a paltry 1 meg … as you cIconsan see the menu is very visually appealing . and since its opensource it is completely customizable and redustributable … it also comes with an awsome program called PortableApps backup wich is an opensource backup program to backup your data and settings …and the BIGGEST difference between this and the u3 launcher is the fact that this does NOT require that you have special hardware you can use any media you want … a usb hard drive , a use thumb drive , an ipod, iriver , zen , psp , digital camera (if you wanted to…) ANYTHING … You can download many version of this app …but make sure you download them from either the official site PortableApps.com/suite or one of the following urls
